Pictures from the Flag battlegame held on Jan. 30, 2000. The first picture below is a diagram of the game field. There are two teams ( team A and team B) and two entrances. At the center of the field are 25 flags (F) (plastic marker flags available at Home Depot). Each team may only enter at it's own entrance (though players have the option of crossing the center and going to the 'other side' of the maze . 20 feet from the player entrance is a marked-off area (G)(goal) where players must stick captured flags. The markings on the ground are vinyl 'construction ribbon' (also available at Home Depot) held in place by large nails (head flush with the ground). The goal of the game is to be the first team to capture 10 flags, bring them out of the maze and insert them into the ground in the team goal. Weapons may pass freely through the 'walls' of the maze, but people (and body parts) may not. Flags must be carried out one at a time (maximum one flag per player). It is suggested that teams not be allowed to go around the outside of the maze deyond the 'halfway point' (H on the diagram). Variations such as 'only one score per person', thrown weapons allowed, class battle, armor allowed, walls stop magic, etc. make this an infinately modifiable, yet simple and fun battlegame. This instance we played three different games; full class, armor and ranged weapons, and 'ditch'.
